Local rules

Nearly every golf course has its own specific characteristics, possibilities, and limitations. Local rules are established for these. Here you can read the local rules for Best Golf's courses.

Best Golf 18-Hole Local Rules:

1. "Out of Bounds" (OOB) is indicated by white stakes or white bands on the fence. The mesh stretched on the course side of the fence MUST be considered an integral part of the OOB marking.

2. Hazards are marked with red or yellow stakes. All other watercourses, etc. (whether or not they contain water) are part of the general area and are not hazards.

3. The red hazards to the left of holes 10, 11, and 13 are marked on one side only and extend indefinitely.

4. The hazard between holes 4 and 10, marked with red stakes with green tips, is a no-play zone that may not be entered and must be treated as a hazard. Relief for a ball lying in this hazard MUST be taken under Rule 17.1e (Hazards) with a one-stroke penalty.

5. All stakes and wires surrounding these hazards are immovable obstructions. If the ball lies outside this hazard, but the hazard, stakes, and/or wires interfere with the intended stance or swing of the ball, relief MUST be taken without penalty under Rule 16.1f (Abnormal Course Condition)

6. Ground Under Repair (GUR) is defined by any area surrounded by blue stakes. A GUR defined by blue stakes with a green top is a No Play Zone. If an obstruction occurs due to this No Play Zone, relief must be taken without penalty under Rule 16.1f.

7. When the summer greens are in use, any winter green is a wrong green, and relief without penalty MUST be taken under Rule 13.1f.

8. If it is known or virtually certain that a player's ball has struck a power line or towers supporting the line during play of the 5th hole, the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a new ball, without penalty, from the spot where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6 for procedure).

9. If it is known or virtually certain that a player's ball has struck the tension cord strung in front of the white/yellow tees on the 10th hole, the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a new ball, without penalty, from the spot where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6 for procedure). However, if the ball has struck something else before hitting the tension cord (e.g., the nets/posts to the left of the teeing ground or the tension cord's attachment point on the bank), the ball MUST be played as it lies.

10. If a ball lies in the red hazard to the left of the putting green on the 13th hole, or if it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found has come to rest in the hazard, the player has the following options, each with one penalty stroke:
a. take relief under Rule 17.1, or
b. As an additional option, the player may drop the original ball or another ball in the dropping zone. This location is at the start of the path between the hedges and is within one club-length of the stake marked DZ. This dropping zone is a drop zone as defined in Rule 14.3.

Penalty for breach of a Local Rule:
General penalty under Rule 14.7a.
